Gold Note’s CD-10 isn’t your average CD player

  • Gold Note is adding a CD player to its 10 Series, which includes a streaming DAC, a streaming amplifier and a phono stage. The incoming CD-10 features a CD-tray mechanism from Austria’s Stream Unlimited and a DAC circuit built around AKM AK4493 DAC silicon from Japan.

On the back panel, we find the usual array of analogue and digital outputs and, according to the Italian manufacturer, the CD-10’s sound quality can be (optionally) upgraded with the addition of its PSU-10 EVO external power supply.

However, several less common features make Gold Note’s CD-10 stand out from the crowd:

    • The CD-10 offers single-ended RCA and balanced XLR analogue outputs
    • with an internal digital volume control on board, the CD-10 can be used as a digital pre-amplifier
    • The CD-10 has a small touchscreen on the front panel which works in tandem with the nearby rotary encoder
    • On the back of the CD-10, we find 24bit/192kHz-capable TOSLINK and coaxial inputs – hello streamers and TVs
    • The CD-10 is a half-width box

The CD-10 sells for €2000. Your choice of black, silver and gold finishes.
