Shock! Horror! Naim goes Class D with Uniti Nova PE

  • If you’ve been considering pulling the trigger on Naim’s 40wpc Uniti Atom (โ‚ฌ2599) or the bigger 80wpc Uniti Nova (โ‚ฌ4999) but have held fire due to concerns about either’s power output not offering quite enough, then Naim wants to pull on your coat about its all-new Uniti Nova Power Edition (PE), the latest in the Brit company’s line of Future-Fi-centric streaming amplifiers.

The PE takes the original Uniti Nova’s full-width chassis, adds a couple of centimetres to its height, maintains its front-panel display, internal DAC, streaming smarts (Roon Ready, Google Chromecast, Apple AirPlay 2, Tidal Connect & Spotify Connect, digital inputs (including HDMI ARC), analogue inputs, ZigBee remote wand and possibly the finest volume wheel on any amplifier right now and then marries it to a Purifi* Class D amplifier module promising 150wpc into 8 Ohms and 250wpc into 4 Ohms.

This is Naim’s most conspicuous deployment of Class D amplification to date through which, idealists be damned, the market appeal of the Uniti Series will undoubtedly broaden.

Pricing on the Uniti Nova PE has been confirmed at โ‚ฌ10,000, US$10,000 and ยฃ8600. Shipping begins on 12th February.
