Wharfedale Linton Heritage video review

Wharfedale first introduced the Linton loudspeaker in 1965. Back then, it was a large-format 3-way loudspeaker designed to sit on the floor — the times might have been a-swingin’ and a-changin’ but loudspeaker stands had yet to be invented. Not resting on any laurels generated by the original model’s success, Wharfedale introduced the Super Linton in 1967 and followed up with Lintons 2 and 3 in 1971. The Linton 3XP followed in 1977 and the Linton XP2 the year after that before the model’s ultimate discontinuation in the early 1980s. Nothing lasts forever.

But then, in 2019, the spark that would light the candles on Wharfedale’s 85th birthday cake. Parent company IAG had commissioned the design of a new Linton. The Linton Heritage would be a 3-way loudspeaker (like the original) but this time around, it would ship with bespoke-fit stands that would work double duty as vinyl storage racks. The Heritage version’s outward appearance would reflect the mid-century modern aesthetics of the original but it would also have to compete with similarly-priced modern rivals on sound quality…

…and a whopping four years after the Linton Heritage made its debut, I finally get my eyes and ears on a pair.
