Want a Mytek DAC for US$599? MoFi Electronics has this week made that a reality with the announcement of its new StudioDAC, designed by Mytek frontman and lead engineer Michal Jurewicz.
The rather unusual look of the StudioDAC mirrors that of MoFi’s entry-level phono stage, the StudioPhono, with its power supply sitting in an outboard brick. On the unit’s rear end, we find single-ended RCA analogue outputs plus USB, coaxial and TOSLINK digital inputs.
Inside the unit sits a D/A conversion circuit that’s been built around an (unspecified) DAC chip to support PCM, DSD and MQA with the active format and resolution indicated by LEDs on the top panel. That top panel also features a rotary for input switching.
According to the press release a low-noise precision clock generator puts jitter-reduction in its crosshairs with the Apodizing Filter reportedly mitigating pre-ringing artifacts and eliminating the needle-point nature of high frequencies for a more natural sound.
Lastly: not only is the StudioDAC designed in the USA, but it is also made in the USA. And it’s shipping now for US$599.
