Podcast #51 – Class D, Class A/B or Class A?

In this episode of the Darko.Audio podcast, Srajan Ebaen and I expand the subtextual intent of last year’s episodes by pulling a short educational moment from each news announcement. For example, Naim has just announced the Uniti Nova Power Edition. Not only does this new version of Naim’s streaming integrated sell for almost twice the original’s asking (€10,000 vs €5000) but it’s the British company’s most conspicuous deployment of Class D to date. Beyond more output power, people might understandably ask, what is the difference between the Class A/B amplifier found in the original Uniti Nova and the Class D circuit used in the Power Edition? This provides our first point of educational call with five more – stemming from five more news items – coming in hot pursuit.
